My immigrant great grandmother, not speaking any English, was taken in by the women of the church and they helped to raise my grandmother and her siblings. This connection was so great that all three of the boys were named after the priests at the parish. The Episcopal church is quite literally a part of my bloodline.
Other than 4 years away at the University of Chicago, I have been a member of Holy Comforter since birth. I was baptized and confirmed here, and it was here that the congregation was able to join my family in significant moments- both happy and sad. I truly understood the role of the parish, not only as a center of worship but also as a family, during the illnesses and deaths of my parents in 2011. Holy Comforter provided a home that was needed at each varying point of my life.
At Holy Comforter, I serve in many different roles. I currently serve as Registrar as well as am commissioned as the Congregation's verger. In the past I have served as an acolyte, usher and chalicist as well as singing in the children's choir (many moons ago and I do not miss those ruffs). Currently I also serve on the Worship Commission, Altar guild, Flower guild and many other tasks as they arise.
Outside of Holy Comforter, I currently work as an academic advisor at both the Community College of Baltimore County and Howard Community Colleges. I also enjoy cooking and love to travel.
