Beth Avil, Vestry Member

jhaley

I grew up in a high, incense swinging church and loved how Holy Comforter felt so much warmer, welcoming and less formal.  I have served on Altar Guild for the past 25 years, taught Sunday School for many years when my daughter, Kristen was young, help assemble Sunday worship bulletins, and am one of the organizers of Food For Thought at Holy Comforter.  I am now an 8 o’clocker and love worshiping in the beauty of our chapel.

In my teaching career in Baltimore County Public Schools, I was a teacher of the deaf and a kindergarten teacher.  Retiring in 2016 has enabled me time to pursue my passions.  I love yoga, cooking and baking, gardening (I am a member of the Hampton Garden Club) and music (I am learning to play the violin).  I teach early literacy workshops for parents and their preschool age children and volunteer in several schools.  My husband, Ted and I now share our home with our beloved dachshund, Roxie.
