Communion at Christmas 2020

On Christmas Eve, a Service of Holy Eucharist will be available on Holy Comforter’s YouTube Channel. This service encompasses some of our favorite parts of the Christmas service including lessons, carols, memories and a decorated church. There will also be a special Pageant featuring the children and families of Holy Comforter. These will be available starting at 9AM on Christmas Eve.

During the service, you will be invited to partake in the Holy Communion. While it is always possible to have a spiritual communion, there will be multiple options for a physical reception of the Holy Communion at Christmas.

Holy Comforter has purchased prepackaged individual communion vessels. Each of these contains pre-packaged Bread and Wine. You will receive the consecrated elements in a fully hygienic and socially distant manner.

There are 3 options for receiving the Eucharist:

  1. On Christmas Eve between 3 and 5 p.m., a drive through will operate at church where you can receive Communion directly from Chris+. You will then be able to take communion home with you. The chapel will also be open for individuals to use for prayer and to partake in communion.

  2. Advance Pick-Up: Starting the 4th Sunday of Advent (Dec. 20), anyone will be able to pick up consecrated Eucharist from the office. Pickup will be available on Sunday between 8 and 12, and on Monday to Wednesday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. No advance reservations are needed. We ask that you refrain from consuming communion until Christmas Eve when you can view and participate in the service.

  3. At Home Delivery: Anyone who is unable or does not desire to come to church during these times will have the option to request contact-free home delivery. This delivery will be arranged between December 20thand 24th. Please use this link to request deliveries. These requests should be made by December 18th to ensure on-time delivery. Special arrangements can be made for those living in retirement communities.

We hope that you will use these options to be able to fully share in the Christmas joy.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the church office (410-252-2711) or [email protected].
