My family moved to Virginia for 16 years, and I was very active in the church there. I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for 12 years, worked many years with Vacation Bible School, and served as captain of our Relay for Life team for the American Cancer Society for 10 years. Since moving back to Maryland 3 years ago, I have been active at Holy Comforter. I am back doing Altar Guild with my mom, and I helped with my son Cole and the kids that went to Wyoming for their pilgrimage in June 2009. I also give blood regularly and volunteer at CHC's biannual blood drive.
When we moved back to Maryland, we started looking for a church. Holy Comforter opened its arms to us and made us feel welcome those first days when we needed it most. The youth group took my son in as one of their own and did not look back. We knew we were home again.
My parents Mel and Jackie Foster have taught me many things throughout the years, including that your main priorities should always be your family and your church. They taught me to help others and stay active in your church. My dad was the Treasurer and on the Vestry for many years. I want to follow in his footsteps and make him proud.
